On 4th August, 2025, CIDJAP hosted a one-day refresher training on Practical Bookkeeping for its accounting staff. The training, held in Bishop Okoye Memorial Hall of the CIDJAP Secretariat, was facilitated by Mrs. Josephine Ovaga, a seasoned accountant and financial consultant with extensive experience in nonprofit and development sector accounting. After the opening formalities, Mrs. Ovaga took the participants through the fundamentals of bookkeeping, emphasizing proper documentation, double-entry principles, ledger preparation and monthly reconciliation.
The training was highly interactive, with practical exercises and real-life case scenarios tailored to CIDJAP's internal financial processes. Staff members were encouraged to ask questions and engage in group discussions, which deepened their understanding of handling cashbooks, vouchers and financial reports accurately.
By the end of the session, the participants expressed satisfaction with the clarity and relevance of the training. Mrs. Ovaga concluded by encouraging accountants to maintain consistency, accuracy and integrity in their work. The refresher served as a timely and valuable tool in strengthening CIDJAP's commitment to accountability and sound financial practices.
